hi, i'm carlee

That’s where Gray Works started.

and I've never been able to ignore a blank wall

Not in a “that needs paint” kind of way...
more in a “this could be so much better” kind of way.

Because the truth is, most spaces have way more potential than what’s actually done with them. And once you start noticing it… you can’t really unsee it.

Before Gray Works, my path was… all over the place.

I graduated from NC State with a degree in Applied Nutrition. I worked in a gym. I helped design and build out spaces. I worked in construction. I even got my real estate license at one point, thinking maybe I just needed to be around design, not doing it myself.

this wasn't exactly the plan...

wasn't

Then I painted my first mural.

I posted it and almost immediately, someone reached out for another one. And that was kind of it.

I went all in, and I haven’t looked back since.

This is the part that actually bothers me.

You can walk into a business that’s incredible at what they do but their space doesn’t reflect that at all. It’s either completely blank, overly cluttered, or trying to be “cute” in a way that just… doesn’t land.

And it’s not because they don’t care. It’s because designing a space isn’t their thing. But it is mine.

I see the potential immediately. And I care about helping bring it out.

AFTER

BEFORE

here's what I couldn't ignore:

too many great businesses are sitting in forgettable spaces

great

I’ll probably tell you ahead of time:
“Give me a little extra time… I like to chat.”

But the chatting is strategic... because I need to understand your business. Your space. What you want people to feel when they walk in.

Think of it like picking out an outfit for someone. If I don’t know you, I can guess but it’s probably not going to be something you actually love.

Same idea here. Once I understand your story, I can design something that actually fits, not just something that looks good.

i don't start with paint

Every mural I create starts the same way: with a conversation

details matter. a lot.

There’s a lot that goes into a mural people don’t always see. Because the little things are what make it feel right.

Every design is scaled to your exact wall

Every surface is prepped properly

If there’s an outlet, a pipe, or something in the way?
I work around it so everything blends seamlessly.

And behind the scenes, I’m spending hours designing, adjusting, and refining your mural before you ever see it. Because when it’s finished, it should feel like it was always meant to be there.
